Mountain Weather
2015. I’m in New Zealand, working on my second book Eight Passes. It’s about New Zealand’s Southern Alps, told through eight walking journeys over the high mountain passes used in pre-European times. Part adventure-story, part idiosyncratic bicultural history, I’m trying to bring to life some of the stories, beauty, and fiercely contested significance of these spectucular landscapes.
